Baked Fish from Puglia Italy – Easy Fish Recipe

Baked Fish from Puglia Italy

If you are looking for an easy fish recipe, or maybe an alternative to fish pie, here is a baked fish recipe that is delicious and simple to make. This sea bream recipe will make your entire kitchen smell like an Italian seaside restaurant. Keep reading to get the step by step recipe.

Ingredients

Preparation

Start by peeling and thinly slicing your potatoes. The thinner the potatoes, the quicker they will cook.

Next, peel and cut the garlic cloves and chop the parsley. You can place the garlic and parsley in the same bowl, and stir to combine.

The following step involves grating the cheese and preparing the breadcrumbs in a small bowl.

Now that the ingredients are ready, you can start assembling your baked fish. Start by drizzling the olive oil at the bottom of your baking dish.

Next, layer the potatoes slices on the bottom of the dish, until you have covered it all.

Season the potatoes with a crack of black pepper, and top with the garlic and parsley mixture. Right after, you can sprinkle almost half the grated cheese. Drizzle a little olive oil and proceed to the next step.

Take your fish and place it on top of the potatoes. Make sure you have scaled it, removed the interiors, and washed it. You can ask your fishmonger to do this for you.

Fill the fish with the garlic patè, and top it with the parsley and garlic mixture. Next, sprinkle the rest of the breadcrumbs.

To complete the preparation, top the fish with the remaining sliced potatoes and sprinkle the rest of the cheese. Season with black pepper, and drizzle some olive oil.

Bake in the oven for one hour, or a little less, depending on how thin you have sliced your potatoes.

Take out of the oven, let it cool, and enjoy.

Tips

If you want to make this recipe for two people, just add a few more garlic cloves, parsley, garlic patè, and one more sea bream. The number of potatoes should be enough for two people. You can also serve this with a side salad.
