You’ve probably had capricciosa pizza in a restaurant before. Maybe you even had that in Italy. And now you want to recreate that at home. Well, my friend you’re at the right place.
We’ve got a simple, quick and easy to follow step-by step Capricciosa pizza recipe that you can make at home using a homemade dough, a store-bough pizza dough or pizza base.
If you want to make the pizza dough yourself, here are two recipes two choose from.
Quick Pizza Dough Recipe: rises in 30 minutes and contains dry yeast
No Yeast Pizza Dough made using baking powder.
A few tbsp pre-made garlic and basil tomato sauce (follow the recipe here)
150 gr mozzarella cheese for pizza
5 fresh mushrooms
2 or 3 slices Prosciutto cotto
3 to 5 Belmorso Grandmother’s Recipe Wedged Artichokes
2 tbsp pitted Pitted Leccina black olives
Belmorso Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Take your pizza dough or base out of the package or flatten your homemade dough ball using some flour and your hands.
Transfer to a dish covered with parchment paper or drizzled with EVOO.
Spread 4 to 5 tablespoons of homemade tomato sauce.
PS: I like to make this homemade tomato sauce in batches and freeze it into small containers. You can use this sauce on pizza, pasta, for stews, as a dip, and many other ways.
Slice your mozzarella ball or cylinder into thick slices, and layer them on your pizza base.
Follow by adding the prosciutto broken into pieces and scattered here and there.
Next, add the peeled and sliced mushrooms.
Then, add the sliced black olives.
Finally, add your beautiful artichokes.
Finish with some salt and pepper, and a generous drizzle of Belmorso extra virgin olive oil, or even better Novello.
Bake in a pre-heated oven for 15 minutes or 20 mins if you like your pizza really crunchy.
PS: remember the thinner your pizza dough the less time in the oven.
Take out of the oven and enjoy warm.
This pizza is a great one to make and share with family and friends as a starter, for pizza night, movie night, or games night. Any leftovers are delicious the next day, enjoyed either cold or warmed up.
