Michael Fleming comes from a family of dairy farmers and, at the age of 16, his father found him a summer job in a local butcher’s shop. While there, Michael discovered a natural affinity for the work, and the rest, as they say, is…butchery!
He has been running Fleming’s Butchers since he was 25.
Originally a wholesale business, Fleming’s supplied beef, lamb, pork and bacon to high-end restaurants and hotels across the country. In 2006, a growing appreciation of his meats amongst the general public led Michael to open his first consumer-facing shop in the small town of Stepaside.
